Railroad Police patches & badges - hundreds of patches pictured!

Railroad Police insignia - lots of railroad police insignia pictured on this site.

Over 400 railroad police patches are pictured here, along with some badges.

I've been collecting railroad police patches for several years.  I decided I had enough items to create this website, so others could enjoy looking at my collection.

I'm not a professional photographer.  That will be apparent when you see some of the photos.  There are over 120 photos on this site.  On the other hand, a fair quality color photo is better than no photo at all.

Some police departments have patches for their canine unit.  These are pictured first.  After that are patches from railroads in the United States.  Way down below those are patches from Canada and other countries.  I no longer seek patches from outside of the United States.

Some collectors make a distiction between commuter-type railroads, other railroads and transit insignia.  All rail police insignia is lumped together on this site.

I tried to group the patches more or less alphabetically.  If I have a badge from a particular railroad, it's pictured below the patch photo.  I'm not a badge expert.  I obtained all of these badges from other collectors.  I don't know whether they are issued badges, badges bought by individual officers to carry as "second" type badges, or what.

Most of these badges have a manufacturer's mark on the rear, known as a hallmark.  I have photos of the rear of most badges to show these hallmarks.  A badge with a hallmark is more valuable than the same badge without one.

SOME (not all) of the badges pictured on page 2 are for sale.  Contact me for details.

Note that I am not seeking any more RR police insignia - thx.

Collecting railroad police insignia

After the events of 9/11, some police departments, including some railroad police departments, stopped giving away or trading their departmental patches.  Some of my patches pictured here are very rare.  However, the patches aren't marked as such.  If you're a collector of railroad police insignia, you likely know which of these are rare and which are more common.  Some of these common ones are what you'll see on ebay on occasion.  But the rare stuff rarely is seen on ebay.

You'll see that many of my patches are from older, prior patch styles, and others are from railroads that are now defunct due to mergers, etc.  Obviously, these are the tough ones to obtain.

In some of the photos, you'll see what appear to be duplicates.  But they're really not duplicates.  Instead, they have variations from one another which are important enough to merit inclusion.  For example, there are 3 patches together for NYS & W which look alike.  However, one is fully embroidered, one is partially embroidered, and one has a blue background while the other 2 have a black background.  You can't see these differences in the photo.  But that's why all 3 patches are pictured in the same photo.
